Umdasch boosts shop-fit expertise with acquisition – 29/10/07

AUSTRIA. The Umdasch Shopfitting Group has purchased shopfitter Jonas in a bid to expand its expertise. The transaction will allow Umdasch to boost its project management skills in response to increasing demand from international retailers and brands.

Umdasch Managing Director Dr Reinhold Süßenbacher commented: “We want to expand not only by means of our own strength, but also through takeovers.”

The official purchaser is Umdasch Shop-Concept GmbH in Neidenstein/Heidelberg, the German subsidiary company of Umdasch.

Jonas will continue to be managed by its Managing Director Dieter Eichhorn, in addition to Michael Staller, Managing Director of Umdasch Shop-Concept GmbH, Neidenstein.

Franz Jonas GmbH & Co KG is headquartered in Oberhausen-Buschhausen. Having built a reputation as an all-inclusive shopfitter it also offers on-the-spot construction advice. It employs 100 people and its latest annual turnover was almost €30 million.

Umdasch presents 980sq m “tasteandstyle” at EuroShop 2008

In other news, Umdasch will be continuing its series of themed EuroShop presentations in 2008.

For its 2008 presentation the Umdasch stand will be transformed into a product world presenting trends in food and non-food shopfitting. The presentation will run from 23 to 27 February 2008 in Düsseldorf.

The circular presentation of innovations in products and systems will consist of six themed contributions centred on the trade fair motto ‘taste and style’. The striking circular architecture will be dominated by hanging cylinders covered in gold drapes. The atmospheric lighting will aim to heighten the dramatic effect.

The presentations will focus on areas including fashion, beauty, accessories and wellness.

Other upcoming Umdasch events

Besides EuroShop, Umdasch will also be holding the first Umdasch Shop-Concept Forum – titled “Creating Unique Environments” – in London on 22 November 2007. The event will be held at the private club 24London.

Speakers will include Jason Bruges, founder of the Jason Bruges Studio and a leading UK innovator in lighting installation design; Jenefer Greenwood, retail strategist at developer Grosvenor; and David Slade, director of leasing at Westfield. Jenefer Greewood will also be speaking about the trend-setting project Liverpool One.
