TÜRKIYE. Unifree Duty Free and its joint venture partner Gebr. Heinemann have opened three self-checkout machines to boost customer convenience in departures duty free at Istanbul Airport.
The retailer said the kiosks ensure “a smooth transaction from passport verification to bagging the products, and enable an innovative and fast checkout experience in just a few minutes”. The kiosks reduce the environmental impact of operations, it added.

To use the system, shoppers must scan their tickets, swipe boarding passes through a reader, scan their items, pay via credit card and package up their purchases.
“As Unifree Duty Free we are always looking for opportunities to enhance the passenger experience and to offer quick and innovative alternatives for our passengers during their visit,” said Unifree Duty Free Chief Commercial Officer Ceren Tonguç. “With these self-checkout kiosks travellers will enjoy more interactive and hassle-free shopping.” ✈
