SWITZERLAND. Unilever Cosmetics International (UCI) has merged its global travel retail & export division and its European marketing headquarters to create a new international division, based in Geneva.
As a result of this the European marketing headquarters in London will close and a number of new positions have been announced.
Shelley Smyth, previously Vice President European Marketing & Strategic Development based in London, has been named Vice President Marketing International, based in Geneva. She will lead a team co-ordinating the marketing and media plans, programmes and results with the domestic affiliates and with the travel retail and distributor organisations.
She will also assume the liaison with the global marketing teams in New York to develop the marketing plans for the international region. Smyth will continue to report to Jean Mortier, Senior Vice President International who is already based in Geneva.
Rick Bohon, previously Marketing Director Export, will become Marketing Director – Europe. Rusty Wright, formerly Marketing Director Asia Pacific, has been named Marketing Director – Export. Both will report to Smyth.
Lynn Hill, previously European Training Manager, has been appointed International Training Manager and will remain based in the UK. She will also report to Smyth.
Lastly, Francoise Mahe, previously Assistant of the European Designer Parfums Global Marketing unit in Paris, will become the Assistant of the International Marketing Team, again reporting to Smyth.
In a statement, Mortier commented that the new organisation “will help to contribute to Unilever Cosmetics International having a greater understanding of customers needs and how best to meet them.”
This latest reorganisation comes just nine months after Unilever implemented a radical overhaul of its UCI prestige beauty arm (The Moodie Report.com, 10 October 2003). And in March UCI appointed Fergus Balfour President and Chief Executive Officer, replacing Kevin Boyce.
