US confectioner Gimbal’s Fine Candies makes travel retail debut

US confectionery company Gimbal’s Fine Candies has made its entry into the global travel retail market with seven non-chocolate items across multiple package formats.

Brand management for the San Francisco-based company will be handled by CITRA Inc and Thornton Travel Retail as a joint venture.

Fourth-generation candy maker Lance Gimbal commented: “We are excited to be involved in the dynamic world of travel retail. We realise the unique nature of this channel. Together we are confident in meeting the expectations of operators worldwide.”

Thornton Travel Retail’s Mark Thornton said: “Gimbal’s have a great history of quality candy making and they have several products that can help operators increase their non-chocolate offering to consumers.

“Gimbal’s will be the only non-chocolate candy company that offers worldwide products manufactured in the USA for our market,” he added.

Gimbal’s initial travel retail line-up will include Gourmet Jelly Beans, with antioxidant Vitamin C and real juice in 41 flavours; Cherry Lovers Fruit Chews, with nine combinations of cherry flavors; All Natural Licorice Scotties with licorice root and anise; Chewy Cinnamon LavaBalls; 16 flavours of Honey Lovers and fruit juice based Sour Lovers in 12 flavours.

All products are allergen-free and immediately available, and exclusive packaging for the travel retail sector is planned.
