US TV personality Lisa Vanderpump launches sangria range in travel retail

Lisa Vanderpump, British restaurateur and star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules on US TV network Bravo, is set to launch her family’s new LVP Sangria range in travel retail.

Lisa Vanderpump’s signature sangria recipe, which the star has served for years in her restaurants and at events, has been bottled and made available for purchase by her daughter Pandora and her son-in-law, Jason Sabo. Lisa, together with her husband Ken Todd, have owned 26 restaurants and bars in Europe and the US, including Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills, and SUR in West Hollywood.

LVP Sangria is available in red and pink variants, with a white sangria to launch in 2015

Launched in Los Angeles and Miami, the new product was successfully introduced in Nuance-NET Duty Free at Antalya Airport over the summer.

Said to contain no additives and created with 100% natural flavours, LVP Sangria is crafted by Spanish and French master winemakers using premium Spanish rosé and red wines. Characterised by a “light body and clean finish”, it has an alcohol content of 10.5%abv.

LVP Sangria is available in red and pink variants, with the latter being hailed as the first ever rosé sangria on the market. Future brand extensions include a white sangria, slated to launch in 2015.

Lisa Vanderpump commented: “LVP Sangria is a sexy, sumptuous drink. Coming from Europe, sangria is one of my favourite drinks to serve because it pairs well with almost any occasion and food. Having served this recipe for years in my restaurants, I am excited to share it with the world. Besides, getting the chance to work closely with my daughter Pandora makes this an incredibly special family experience.”

Pandora Vanderpump added: “My mother has been serving her own special sangria recipes for as long as I can remember – it’s one of her most popular drinks. Using her recipe, we’ve created something that’s light, refreshing, easy to drink and impressive to serve – an ultra-premium blend that lives up to the Vanderpump standards of quality. Our family hopes you will love LVP Sangria as much as we do.”

The traditional Red Sangria is crafted with Tempranillo grapes, which add spicy, red fruit aromas and flavours for a full-bodied red wine. The grape’s name translates to “little early one”, referencing the fact that it ripens several weeks earlier than most Spanish red grapes. The wines for LVP are aged in oak to generate “increased complexity and harmony”.

LVP’s Pink Sangria is made from Bobal and Grenache grapes. Grenache, known as Garnacha in Spain, is said to add berry and cherry flavours, herbal accents and richness. Its full flavour and regional character make LVP Pink Sangria “silky and floral, well-integrated and lush”. Bobal is a variety of Vitis Vinifera, a red grape whose presence in Spain was documented in the 15th century in Espill o Llibre de les dones by Valencian writer and physician Jaume Roig. Its name is derived from the Latin “˜bovale’, in reference to the shape of a bull’s head. Its skin is intensely and brightly coloured and the smell is described as fresh, original and fragrant.

LVP Sangria can be served chilled straight from the bottle over a touch of ice, coupled with fresh fruits. It is recommended to pair Pink Sangria with lighter-coloured fruits such as sliced strawberries and raspberries, and to serve Red Sangria with blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. LVP Sangria can also be drunk with a splash of orange liqueur and brandy or in cocktails as a mixer.

The LVP team – together with its consultant for duty free and Europe/Middle East, aclea Managing Director Jean-Philippe Clermont – will be in Cannes during the week of the TFWA World Exhibition to showcase the new products.
