Victorinox to present ‘new design direction’ at TFWA World Exhibition with I.N.O.X. Chrono series

Victorinox watches are designed, developed, tested and manufactured at the Watch Competence Center in Delémont, Switzerland

Victorinox has unveiled the I.N.O.X. Chrono watch collection and it will be showcased at the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) World Exhibition in Cannes next month (1-5 October). The Swiss brand’s booth will be located in Bay 5 of the Bay Village at Palais des Festivals.

“This year marks the beginning of an important chapter for Victorinox as we unveil an exciting evolution in our watches portfolio,” said Victorinox Head of Global Travel Retail & Fragrance Sales Gloria Dix.

“This new design direction is an important step for the brand’s aspirations in travel retail and provides us with an opportunity to strengthen our presence in watches as part of a strong multi-category portfolio.”

The timepieces in the new series feature geometric shapes and curves, and the reworked bezel appears to be ‘carved’ with a pocketknife. The watches integrate the Alox pattern – a well-known feature of pocketknife scales.

The Swiss Army Knife is evoked in the counterweight of the second hand. The heart of the watches consists of chronograph movement and antimagnetic protection to ensure time precision.

The Swiss brand aims to bolster its multi-category portfolio in the travel retail channel with this new collection

Victorinox’s industrial roots are reflected in the materials used to create the models – steel or titanium case and carbon bezel, or all-carbon for the lightweight and sporty versions. The watches are ISO certified for shock and water resistance.

I.N.O.X Chrono pieces can be customised with interchangeable straps made of paracord, rubber, leather and wood, and these come with a five-year warranty.

Victorinox Head of Category Watches Arianna Frésard commented: “For I.N.O.X Chrono, we have blended elegance, strong geometrics and industrial codes in a combination of functionality, resistance and innovative material mixes. The outcome reflects our industrial-derived ability to deliver modern sophistication.”

In 2014, Victorinox began the production of internal components at its factory in Switzerland with the first I.N.O.X. watch. Then the brand proceeded to manufacture more components in stainless steel/metal before moving on to titanium.

Now, depending on the line, complete cases or components such as bezels, middle cases, movement holders (those made of metal), containers and back cases are produced and assembled in-house. ✈
