AUSTRIA. Vienna Airport has completed a major project to remodel its Pier West and C-Gates area, which now houses a fresh food & beverage offer and expanded space for retail. Notably, it features a dining offer from ambitious Turkish-owned hospitality, F&B and airline catering group DO & CO.
The terminal area was officially opened today (November 14) by Flughafen Wien Management Board Members Julian Jäger and Günther Ofner together with DO & CO CEO Attila Dogudan and NIKI Managing Director Christian Lesjak. The 9,500sq m zone caters to 15 airlines but mainly NIKI and airberlin flights.
The airport said that it placed special emphasis on developing a high quality culinary offering. A new restaurant area of about 800sq m was designed by DO & CO. It features brands such as Demel, Henry, American diner Big Daddy and a separate children’s adventure area.

Vienna Airport said in a statement: “Guests can enjoy an extensive offering ranging from traditional Viennese coffee house culture with original Viennese schnitzel made of veal, pastries as well as a large choice of cakes, fresh salads and high quality burgers to cold and hot sandwiches. The new DO & CO Bar is a real eye-catcher. Centrally located, it offers an extravagantly designed bar with a large offering of exquisite wines, beer and cocktails for a relaxed stay until departure.”
The retail area, which houses 20 stores, has also been expanded. It includes a Gebr Heinemann duty free store, an enlarged Manner store, a Flavors of Austria shop and a corner the PEZ brand, noted the airport. The 126sq m Welcome Fashion shop features brands such as Flug zeug, Capo, Codello, Vilebrequin, Jockey International, lolaandgrace, LU.ST and OLYMP. There is also a wide offering of Simba toys and Lego for children. The pop-Up Eleonto Electronics unit is also new and has a large selection of electronic products.
There is also a bookstore, souvenir shop Senses of Austria, a Geox unit and outlets for the German fashion & accessories brands Roeckl and Falke.
Julian Jäger said: “The modernisation of Pier West was one of the most important projects within the context our quality strategy, and the results are what we wanted. Effective immediately, passengers will experience a continuous, spacious gate area, a high quality culinary offering and a brighter, more pleasant overall atmosphere in the terminal. This project will serve as a benchmark for future modernisation projects focusing on the terminal infrastructure of the airport hub.”
Attila Dogudan noted: “The catering at the new Pier West is at a top international level, and offers all passengers a particularly wide range of culinary specialties. We are very pleased with the intensification of our cooperation with Vienna Airport based on a shared understanding of quality, innovation and individual service.”
As well as retail and F&B, floors, walls, ceiling, lighting and furnishings were newly designed. Partition walls in the 3,200sq m area of the C-Gates were removed, and a more open waiting area for passengers created.
Seats are now equipped with power outlets and USB connections, enabling mobile phones or laptops to be charged – and there is unlimited free WiFi access. More than 17,000 passengers use Pier West daily.
