Sold… to a ‘patron and private collector’ for over £30,000 |
UK. Whyte and Mackay has sold the final bottle of The Dalmore 62 Years Old Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky “for a price exceeding £30,000”.
This bottle, dubbed the ‘Matheson’, was the last of the limited-edition bottling to be sold. It was supplied by The Whisky Exchange to the Surrey-based Pennyhill Park Hotel where a patron and private collector made the purchase. The same buyer also bought a bottle of The Dalmore 50yo.
“This record-breaking sale further demonstrates the power of our legendary brand The Dalmore,” said Whyte and Mackay Trade Marketing executive Debbie Workman, .
Prior to this sale, another bottle of The Dalmore 62yo, “˜The Kildermorie’, was auctioned in 2002 for a then record £25,877.50.
The rare 62yo spirit has been derived from 1868, 1878, 1926 and 1939 The Dalmore. Over the years it has been racked several times and finally finished in an Oloroso ‘Mathusalem’ sherry butt from Gonzalez Byass, Spain, then distilled and matured by The Dalmore Distillery in Alness. Each hand-blown bottle has been individually named and has a specially commissioned, hand printed label with a unique print ink block design.
