Walsh Whiskey has revealed the 11th edition in its Writers’ Tears Cask Strength range. The 2021 vintage of the super-premium Irish whiskey is limited to 6,000 numbered bottles, which are available across selected markets worldwide.

With 1,500 bottles earmarked for the USA, the remaining target key markets include travel retail and domestic in Ireland, Canada (Alberta & British Columbia), Austria, France, Germany, Holland, Russia and the UK.
Writers’ Tears Cask Strength 2021 (54.2% ABV) has a recommended retail price of US$150.
Walsh Whiskey Co-founder and Writers’ Tears Creator Bernard Walsh said: “Cask strength Irish whiskey is still quite rare, but our vatting combining both pot still and single malt is truly unique. While still a very limited number, we are pleased to be able to offer some 6,000 bottles this year to our growing worldwide community.”
The latest Writers’ Tears Cask Strength combines liquids which are triple distilled, non-chill filtered and aged in bourbon barrels. It offers aromas of wild berries and notes orchard fruits, with splashes of spiced ginger, alongside creamy pot still.
As reported, Walsh Whiskey revealed a new look and design for its Writers’ Tears range last year. Key features include the introduction of a cork stopper, a large glass tear drop embossed onto the bottle shoulder, and updated label to reinforce the brand’s high-end positioning.
