USA. Capital One Financial Corp has opened a new lounge at Washington Dulles International Airport.
The 8,500 sq ft lounge – just beyond the airport’s TSA Precheck – opened on 7 September. It is the second location for the Virginia-based banking company, which opened its first airport lounge at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in 2021.
According to the company, the lounge marks “another testament to Capital One’s continued commitment to the National Capital Region and building incredible experiences for both residents and travellers alike”.
The lounge features locally inspired amenities said to provide visitors with a “best-in-class travel experience from the moment they step through the door”.
Facilities and services include workspaces and a full-service coffee and pastry bar with to-go options. The lounge’s food & beverage experience includes curated crafted beer, such as a Pre-Flight Helles Lager, cocktails and health-conscious menu options.
Local brands featured include Lost Rhino Brewing Co, Bee’s Knees, River-Sea Chocolates and Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Company, a Virginia-based coffee roaster with a commitment to sustainability.
The lounge showcases historic architectural images of the airport’s original control tower and terminal and features teak elements and mid-century modern furniture.
It also highlights works from the region’s contemporary artists, including Josh Young, Kristen Gaudio Ensley, Michael Crosset, Judy Southerland and others. Custom-made mugs and pottery are from Central Virginia Studio and Acorn Pottery & Farm.
Other amenities include a parent’s room, filtered water system, lockers and two semi-private open-air rooms.
Venture X cardholders enjoy unlimited complimentary access to Capital One lounges, plus complimentary entry for two guests per visit, and Venture and Spark Miles customers enjoy special access.
Capital One underlined its commitment to offering customers “an end-to-end travel experience that is unique in the market”. The company is set to further its network with lounges at Denver International and Harry Reid International airports, with others in the pipeline for LaGuardia and Reagan Washington National airports.
