WATCHES & JEWELLERY: Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono tops Frontier Buyers Forum

INTERNATIONAL. Citizen’s Eco-Drive Skyhawk Flight Chronograph has topped the latest Frontier’s Buyers’ Forum.

Each month, a panel of three senior buyers assess new duty free products for Frontier magazine.

World Duty Free director of product strategy & development Alyson Reilly, Virgin Atlantic retail business manager Sam Rowe and Qatar Duty Free senior buyer for perfume & liquor Lulu Oblea were the judges in September.

Assessing each product in terms of quality, price, packaging, innovation and sales potential, Citizen’s Eco-Drive Skyhawk Flight Chronograph in titanium topped the ratings with a total score of 119 out of a possible 150. (Marks are awarded between one and ten for each category, from poor to excellent respectively).

This Citizen’s best-selling model has a host of features including time and calendar settings in 22 time zones, three world time alarms and a 1/100 second chronograph measuring up to 24 hours. It is priced in travel retail at €476 for the titanium model and €433 for the steel model.

It was considered by the judges to be “a lot of watch for the money” (Reilly); “a value buy and ideal for duty free and travel retail” (Oblea) and at a price “appropriate to its middle-to-upper market position” (Rowe).

The Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph was followed closely in the judging by the Mulberry Sportsman Radio in Mulberry’s signature congo leather (116 points), the Swarovski Crystal Mesh Spiral Bracelet (103 points) and the Swiss Delice Supreme chocolate line (98 points).
