SWITZERLAND. Swatch’s FLIK FLAK range sees the introduction of two new watches this autumn, Perles en Foile and The Little Polar Bear. The creative designs are ideal for children that are beginning to tell the time.
Both watches meet Swatch’s FLIK FLAK brand criteria: Swiss made with a shock-resistant aluminium case, scratch-proof mineral glass, precision quartz movement, water-resistant up to 30 metres and machine washable (up to 40°C).
The Perles en Foile design (pictured, left) gives little girls the opportunity to learn to tell the time and design their own jewellery. The colour of the hands matches the figures on the dial. The little mauve hand points to the hour numerals of the same colour located on the inner segment of the dial, while the big yellow hand shows the minutes which appear in yellow on the outer circle of the dial. The time can be read immediately, especially as the two hands move across a clearly legible dial.
In addition, the watch presentation case houses four additional boxes of beads in a range of colours (three shades of pink and transparent white). It also contains three pink elastic bands for use as straps, necklaces or spare watch wristlets. Finally, it comes with a cardboard watch with detachable hands and instructions telling the wearer how to maker her own special watch strap.
The Little Polar Bear design (pictured, right) features the popular polar bear character designed by Hans de Beer, known as Lars in Germany and Plume in France. Seven albums, a TV series and a recent animated film describe his eventful journeys with his friends.
The polar bear is represented on a robust fabric strap with little waves and ice fragments. The watch is presented in a pretty blue book which contains a jigsaw with an illustration of the polar bear relaxing in the sea and an educational cardboard watch with detachable hands which repeats the pattern figuring on the dial.
The dial features the customised FLIK and FLAK design, which makes it easy for children to tell the time. FLAK, the small red hand, points to the hour numerals of the same colour located on the inner segment of the dial while FLIK, the big blue and white hand shows the minutes which appear in blue on the outer circle of the dial.
Both watches are available from Swatch stores and approved travel retail outlets.
