De-stressed not distressed travellers – Schiphol strikes a winning wellbeing formula |
NETHERLANDS. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will host the first XpresSpa in Europe after striking an agreement with the fast-growing US well-being specialist.
XpresSpa claims to be the only large-scale Spa company operating exclusively at airports. It provides premium services such as massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing. Travellers may also purchase a wide array of products ranging from soaps and massage tools to gift items.
It currently operates at Dallas/Fort Worth International, JFK International, Philadelphia International, Pittsburgh International and Raleigh-Durham International.
Besides Schiphol, other planned airport openings include Cancún International, George Bush Houston Intercontinental, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, JFK (further outlets in Terminals Seven and Four), Boston Logan International, Philadelphia International, San Francisco International and, in Europe, Munich.
The XpresSpa at Schiphol will be located on the second level of Lounge 2 and is expected to open by the end of this year.
“XpresSpa will offer our passengers a services menu, with separate pricing for each service,” Schiphol Group Manager of New Business Development Freek Vermeulen told The Moodie Report. “The XpresSpa is an excellent addition to the already very innovative portfolio of products & services for our travellers.”
“The current massage facilities at Schiphol have been very successful over the last seven years, but we see a lot of market demand for this,” he added.
With the growing demand for personal health and wellbeing services, XpresSpa’s experience in the airport spa business has created a solid foundation for international expansion.
