INTERNATIONAL. Wild Tiger has ramped up its listings in travel retail following a global launch with Aer Rianta International (ARI) at locations including Barbados Runway Duty Free, The Loop Duty Free in Auckland and Muscat Duty Free.
The Indian premium rum brand, which made its debut in travel retail just 18 months ago, marked off listings across the “suppliers’ Trinity by retailing on land, air and water” through its cruise channel debut with Birka Cruises earlier this year.
Wild Tiger is also listed with airport retailers in India and Fiji, select cruiselines in the Nordics and the Caribbean, and has had a successful year onboard Tiger Air where it emerged a best seller. The brand is slated to gain listings with five more of the world’s top-20 travel retailers in coming months, said Wild Tiger in a statement.
Founder Gautom Menon commented: “It’s truly satisfying to know that we are listed and working with the pioneers of duty free, Aer Rianta International, who operate at some key airports across the world giving our brand an incredible amount of visibility.
“What is most heartening to know is that our brand produced in a tiny village in remote Southern India is now roaring in Barbados, which is the very Mecca of Rum.
“We dedicate every little success to the women workers on our production lines and we also raise a tribute to India’s lost tigers*.”
Wild Tiger, which is produced in the state of Kerala, is India’s first rum to be produced from a blend of molasses and cane juice, giving it aromatic notes and depth in flavour. Just as no two tigers share identical stripes, one of the most distinctive aspects of the Wild Tiger Rum’s packaging is that the stripe design of each bottle is distinctive. This makes it an ideal purchase for souvenirs and gifting in travel retail.
Drinks entrepreneur Menon was recently recognised by GQ Magazine as one of India’s 50 most-influential young Indians. Wild Tiger plans to set up a dedicated travel retail team based in London to grow the brand and its share in travel retail with some innovative offerings planned.
*As a part of its core CSR policy, the brand donates 10% profits towards Tiger Conservation in South India via their non-profit Wild Tiger Foundation (W.T.F).
