World Duty Free Group makes debut at A Coruña Airport in Spain

SPAIN. World Duty Free Group has opened the first ever duty free store at A Coruña Airport, in 65sq m of space. The airport handles around 840,000 passengers per year.

The store design is said to evoke the Galician coast region. It carries a broad array of international brands as well as regional specialities such as Ribeiro and Albariño wines.

A Coruña is a new location in the WDFG portfolio after the company won the tender for travel retail stores at 26 Spanish airports last December. Other airports that will debut duty free stores in the AENA network through WDFG include Asturias, Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén, Murcia-San Javier and Santander.

WDFG Director of Operations in Spain Daniel Montero said: “Our company, which has extensive experience in managing international and domestic airport shops, offers Coruña passengers the best and widest range of local and international products.”

WDFG is investing €100 million in renovating and upgrading the stores across its Spanish network under its new contract.
