HONG KONG. The Travelers’ Lounge, a pioneer of the “˜pay-in airport lounge’ concept, has opened what it claims to be the world’s largest commercial lounge in Hong Kong International Airport. Located in Terminal 1, near Departure Gate 1, this flagship lounge spans an expansive 15,000sq ft and has capacity for about 300 people.
A brainchild of Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited Founder and CEO Song Hoi See, the concept was created to offer a new level of comfort to travellers, providing them with the perfect pre-flight pampering.
The lounge is divided into different zones to suit the mood of the visitors. “The aim is to give all travellers the ultimate pre-flight experience. It is the fusion of innovation, creativity and designer luxury,” said Song.
On entering the lounge visitors are greeted by an oval-shaped bar where baristas serve up a selection of speciality coffees and freshly baked pastries. Alcoholic drinks offered include draught beer, wines, spirits, cocktails and mocktails, alongside other beverages such as soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea and hot chocolate.

The lounge also serves an all-day buffet as well as an a la carte menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. The all-day buffet covers salads, sandwiches, hot dishes, biscuits, soup, snacks, desserts, fruits, drinks, coffee and tea, including authentic Hong Kong style culinary delights. To cater to the international travellers passing through the airport there are also choices of vegetarian and Halal food.
Business executives can make use of the wireless hot spots as well as the full service business centre, which is well equipped with workstations and networked printers. There is also a library equipped with the latest hi-tech meeting facilities such as large screen LCD TV and video conferencing system.
The Galleria, described as “an oasis of tranquillity”, features wide sofas with extra leg room, a 24-hour à la carte menu, a wine bar and a private resting suite with shower. This is to pamper tired and stressed out executives who are rushing to catch a flight straight from work, The Travelers’ Lounge said.
In terms of entertainment, the lounge area which surrounds the bar features designer plush leather sofas and LCD TVs with international channels showing flight schedules, news, the latest movies and sporting events.
The highlight of the luxury experience is the in-lounge spa featuring a full range of spa enjoyment: oxygen therapy, soothing massage, barber services and manicure and pedicure services.
The “˜Haslauer Soft-Pack System’, a first in Asia, is a European spa treatment currently shaking up the spa industry worldwide. Suspended gravity-free, the body is relieved of all pressure on the spine and joints, allowing it to slip into a state of deep relaxation. “We are proud to be the first to provide this treatment to travellers. The beauty of this treatment is to leaving you with the pleasant sensation of floating weightlessly without getting wet. Perfect for a long-haul flight pre-pamper,” Song said.
