Writing transformed as Montegrappa merges traditional and modern

Italian writing instrument specialist Montegrappa has introduced an innovative case for the Apple Pencil.

The company claims the Extra APC1 transforms the act of writing to an iPad into an experience reminiscent of using its classic Extra 1930 fountain pen. Extra 1930 is regarded as an icon of Montegrappa’s taste and tradition.

Extra APC1 has the look and feel of a traditional pen. The Apple Pencil can be inserted into the body of the Extra APC1 after unscrewing the cap from the barrel. The pencil can be charged by removing both Extra APC1 and the Apple Pencil caps to insert the connector into an iPad.

Extra APC1 is available in black and white pearlised celluloid with sterling silver trim. The pocket clip is fitted with Montegrappa’s rotating sphere and the cut-out Greek motif on the cap’s band echoes Extra 1930 design.

Montegrappa said the Extra APC1 will “never be obsolete”. When the Apple Pencil is not needed, the user can replace it with a special ballpoint pen mechanism, which is housed in anodised aluminium, transforming the Extra APC1 into a twist-action ballpoint pen.
