WWF charity toys with plush collection – 11/06/08

This WWF plush panda is one of three toys exclusive to the inflight sector

NETHERLANDS. Dutch company Mimex Brands and Labels, which holds the licence for the new World Wildlife Fund (WWF) plush toy collection, has appointed Lunato Trading as its worldwide travel retail agent. Lunato Trading, based in Germany, displayed the range at the TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore last month.

WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the world’s natural environment and a proportion of the proceeds from sales of the plush toys go to the charity.

Three of the products in the wide selection are inflight exclusives – a panda, a chimp and a polar bear.

Dutch carrier KLM is already carrying the panda, which retails at €19. It sold 600 of them during March, according to Lunato Trading Managing Director Lutz Natonek.

Natonek said that retailers can customise the product so it becomes a souvenir. For example, DFS Morocco has ordered a camel with the national flag on the front.

Each high-quality item comes with an explanatory recyclable label and is packaged in a pouch bag.

Display stands for ground shops are under development, added Natonek.
