CHINA. XpresSpa, the US airport-based spa group, that recently rolled out its first European flagship at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, has become the latest big-name sponsor of The ACI Airport Business & Trinity Forum in Shanghai on 31 March-2 April.
The Trinity Forum (as it is commonly known) is a joint venture between The Moodie Report and ACI World. It is the world’s leading airport revenues conference. XpresSpa will join King Power Group (Hong Kong) and HMSHost as joint sponsors of the Opening Cocktail on 31 March at Lounge 18 at the prestigious Bund 18 nightspot.
XpresSpa has 15 full service spas and 19 more in construction and development, the company said. These include operations in the US, Mexico (two) and The Netherlands and the company is rolling out to key international hub airports across European capital cities. Key targets include Rome and London. It is also targeting Asia, hence its interest in the Shanghai event.
Shanghai Airport Authority is hosting this year’s event which is being held at the Shangri-La Pudong Hotel.
The speakers’ lineup for The Trinity Forum is now complete following the recent addition of Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore Director (Commercial) Lim Peck Hoon and Claudine Kawiak, Chairperson of Global & Beijing International Co (GABICO), to the programme. The latter is responsible for the acclaimed new travel retail (duty paid) offer at Beijing Capital International Airport’s spectacular new Terminal 3 which opened this month. Lim Peck Hoon has driven the recent commercial development of Singapore Changi Airport, including the outstanding new Terminal 3, which opened in January.
Platinum sponsors of the event are the UK-based airport food & beverage specialist SSP, P&G Prestige Products and Lagardère Services, the owner of Aelia and HDS. GABICO is sponsoring the event’s coffee breaks. Nuance-Watson (Hong Kong) and The Estée Lauder Companies are sponsoring the two lunches.

The Trinity Forum will also feature a unique insight into shopper (and non-shopper) behaviour at a prominent UK airport. French retailer Aelia has agreed to allow in-store filming of its duty free operation at Luton Airport near London. The filming is being conducted by Consumer Watch, a joint venture between The Moodie Report and consumer behaviour specialist Counter Intelligence Retail, whose owner Garry Stasiulevicuis will present and analyse the film.
The presentation will also feature an ‘Eye Watch’ mobile eye-level camera – a unique technology being utilised by Counter Intelligence Retail and The Moodie Report to track the store experience through the eyes of a consumer. It helps identify what shoppers are looking at or not looking at – product, signage, and displays – and observes through their eyes how they look at packaging and products on fixture.
