YSL and Kiehl’s pop-up stores shine at HTDF in Sanya

Unmissable: YSL Beauty makes a powerful brand statement with the pop-up and related high-impact advertising

CHINA. With the busy Christmas shopping period approaching, YSL Beauty has opened a Christmas ‘Golden Party’ pop-up store with Hainan Tourism Duty Free Shopping Complex (HTDF) in Sanya. In another partnership with  L’Oréal Travel Retail, HTDF has also recently opened a Kiehl’s skincare lab pop-up. 

The YSL Beauty pop-up features what HTDF called a “bold, luxurious and eye-catching” design combined with naked-eye 3D video, attracting many Hainan residents and travellers.

The YSL Beauty Golden Party features star products such as Libre Eau de Parfum, Pure Shots Night Boost Serum, Encre de Peau Le Cushion Reno, and Rouge Pur Couture, providing customers with everything they need to look their best at the Christmas party.

The pop-up store has seen the launch of a range of exclusive customisation services for the first time. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December, customers can hand-paint their favorite patterns and words to embellish bottles of YSL Libre Eau de Parfum into a luxury artwork.

YSL Beauty also introduced various beauty technologies to the pop-up. Consumers can try then buy YSL Rouge Sur Mesure Custom Lip Color Creator and also experience YSL Urban Skin Check analysis and virtual makeup trial services.

Visitors can purchase products at up to -35% off at the pop-up. The discounts can be enjoyed in conjunction with a special HTDF promotion, which offers a discount of CNY400 (US$57.30) when spending CNY4,000 (US$573) in its physical store. Customers who spend a designated amount also receive exclusive gifts and Christmas gift boxes.

In the first-floor atrium, the Kiehl’s skincare lab pop-up highlights the brand’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution and Retinol Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum, a skincare combo ideal for those seeking anti-oxidation, brightening, wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation.

Powered by activated vitamin C, the Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution helps resist photo-aging, suppress melanin, and brighten the skin during the day. While the Retinol Skin-Renewing Daily Micro-Dose Serum, featuring retinol, a form of vitamin A, effectively repairs the skin during nighttime. Used together, the two products can provide round-the-clock antiaging benefits.

Customers at the pop-up can receive complimentary professional skin testing services and a skincare sample set, as well as exclusive gifts when reaching a designated amount of spending.

Shopping bonanza

To celebrate its second anniversary (HTDF opened on 30 December 2020) the retailer is offering a series of shopping incentives until 31 December including up to -50% off selected perfumes & cosmetics; up to -60% off clothing and bags; and -35% off fine watches and jewellery and up to -50% off certain alcohol items.

Customers can receive CNY200 (US$28.65) off when spending CNY2,000 (US$287) or more, and CNY400 (US$57.30) off when spending CNY4,000 (US$573) or more across all categories in at the HTDF physical store.
