Yves Saint Laurent updates L’Homme with new Sport fragrance

Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) has further extended its L’Homme men’s fragrance franchise with a new scent, L’Homme Sport. It will be available in travel retail from May.

L’Homme Sport is described as a new olfactive interpretation of masculinity. The fragrance face is actor Olivier Martinez, who also represented the original L’Homme, introduced in 2006. In the latest campaign, he is featured riding a powerful Vincent Egli motorbike, at one with the elements. The print campaign was shot by Mathieu César.

Composed by IFF’s Anne Flipo and Juliette Karagueuzoglou, the juice is said to reinterpret the woody fresh signature, thanks to a new bergamot-aldehyde accord. The aldehydes within the formula are complemented by verbena, a heart of cardamom and a dry-down that features cedar and a sensual note called “AmberXtreme”.

“Men don’t want to have to choose between freshness and elegance or freshness and strength any more,” noted Flipo. “They want to find all their desires for refinement and virility in the same fragrance.”

“L’Homme Sport reinterprets the elegance of the L’Homme fragrances, the boldness of the Yves Saint Laurent brand, the freshness of a sport fragrance and the affirmed virility sought by modern men,” added Karagueuzoglou. “Consequently, its freshness is contrasted with refined, deep, vibrant notes.”

The fragrance flacon reworks the key codes of the original L’Homme bottle, blending glass and metal elements with a red typographical signature that echoes the vertical line that runs through the interior. The bottle is topped with the fragrance’s signature hexagonal cap. The outer packaging is silver grey and red.
