ITALY. Italian fashion company Ermenegildo Zegna is looking forward to the opening next year of a boutique at the Macau Four Seasons Hotel.

The 230sq m store will be a “huge project” for the company in 2008, Ermenegildo Zegna Travel Retail Director Loris Bellarmi told The Moodie Report.

The news comes as Zegna launches a new accessories collection called Heritage and just before a new outlet is scheduled to begin trading at Caracas Airport this summer.

The Heritage bag collection, featuring a smart striped lining, is making its debut this month in Zegna outlets, joining the existing Trofeo and Condotti leather accessories lines. The new store in Venezuelan travel retail is set for a July/August opening.

Other recent Zegna openings have included an outlet for accessories only at DFS Scottswalk Galleria in Singapore and a boutique selling the whole product range in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Bellarmi reported that 15% of travellers visiting the Suvarnabhumi store were Russians.

In other news, Zegna has introduced a global marketing campaign with the tagline ‘Great Minds Think Alike’, featuring men in various outdoor situations.

One ad features two sailors sporting the company’s iPod jacket, which has made its successful debut in travel retail, according to Bellarmi. The jacket incorporates iPod controls on the sleeve.
