CHINA. Zhuhai Duty Free Group has won the Guangzhou Nansha Passenger Port departures duty-free contract following an open tender.
This is the travel retailer’s second consecutive bidding success following its recent securing of the Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport duty-free departures concession.
The first-floor store offers a wide range of tobacco, wines & spirits, fragrances & cosmetics, and daily necessities.
As an important transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Guangzhou Nansha Passenger Port plays a central role in the ‘one-hour’ economic circle between Guangdong and Hong Kong, Zhuhai Duty Free said.
Since its opening in 1992, the port has played a key role in promoting the interconnection between the city clusters in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
This interconnectivity was enhanced considerably when the Hong Kong International Airport route was officially resumed on 20 March this year.
The Nansha Passenger Port has realised a one-stop ‘sea-to-sky combined transportation’ model based on ‘check-in in Guangzhou and boarding in Hong Kong’, Zhuhai Duty Free Group noted.
Since 2022, Zhuhai Duty Free Group has won a series of key contracts for departures duty-free stores at Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Heshan and Wanzai ports.
Together with its successful arrivals duty-free shops at Zhuhai Jiuzhou Port in operation, Zhuhai Duty Free said it has successfully built a business model for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Its duty-free store portfolio embraces key waterway ports from east to west, the company added.
