Zippo begins ‘new age’ with limited edition 2016 Collectible of the Year

Zippo has launched its 2016 Collectible of the Year: the Armor Facet is a windproof lighter featuring a 360° MultiCut engraving process and satin finish. It marks the launch of a new line of high-end luxury lighters for the brand.

The limited edition lighter is the latest addition to Zippo’s Collectible of the Year series, which started in 1992 and includes the Windy lighter in 2013 and the Full Circle earlier this year.

The Armor Facet debuts Zippo’s new MultiCut process enabling engraving around the entire lighter. The band of engraved facets is said to add a sparkly touch to the satin chrome finish on the Armor Facet. Other features include the Zippo flame icon engraved into the right side of the lighter and a case 1.5 times thicker than a standard Zippo.

Packaging features interior reflective sides to showcase the design and each lighter is numbered and authenticated with the Zippo Limited Edition bottom stamp.

Zippo Manufacturing Company Owner George Duke said: “With the Armor Facet, we’re officially ushering in a new era of exclusive, luxury lighters at Zippo. As the first edition of this new line, the Armor Facet lighter is poised to be a must-have for collectors across the globe.”

The Armor Facet is available via pre-order through Zippo dealers and wholesalers from 2 November; deliveries will begin in January 2016. Zippo is supporting the launch through campaigns in social and digital media, print, and broadcast and with in-store promotions. The suggested retail price is US$100.
