Zurich Airport commercial growth lags passenger traffic in first 11 months

Passenger traffic growth has outpaced turnover rises in retail (Zurich Duty Free pictured) and dining through the year

SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF574 million (US$650.8 million) in the first 11 months of 2024, a rise of +3.5% on the same period last year. Airside sales climbed by +5.9% with landside up by +0.5%.

The commercial growth figures lagged below the passenger traffic increase of +8%, with volumes reaching 28.8 million.

Airside spend per departing passenger in the 11-month period slipped by -2% year-on-year to CHF22.90 (US$25.97).

In November, commercial turnover rose by +0.6% to CHF45.8 million (US$51.9 million) though spend dipped by -3.7% in the month to CHF22.90.

The commercial numbers lagged passenger traffic growth of +7.3% in November, with volumes hitting 2.2 million. ✈
