Zurich Airport commercial growth lags passenger traffic in first seven months as average spend slips

SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF359.8 million (US$416.1 million) in the first seven months of 2024, a rise of +4.9% on the same period last year. Airside sales climbed by +7.3% with landside up by +1.8%.

The growth figures remained below the passenger traffic increase of +9.9%, with volumes reaching 17.6 million.

Airside spend per departing passenger in the half slipped by -2.3% year-on-year to CHF23.20 (US$26.83).

In July, commercial turnover rose by +1.3% to CHF62 million (US$71.7 million) though spend dipped in the month, falling -3.3% to CHF24.30 (US$28.10).

The commercial numbers lagged passenger traffic growth of +6.5% in the month to 3.1 million. ✈
