Abu Dhabi Airports reports +35.6% year-on-year Q1 passenger surge

UAE. Abu Dhabi Airports has revealed strong passenger traffic results for the first quarter of 2024. Some 6.9 million passengers were served across the airport operator’s network during the period, a surge of +35.6% compared to Q1 2023.

Flight movements across the network were up +11.4%, reaching 61,737.

Abu Dhabi Airports said the results were buoyed by strong global demand for passenger and commercial services.

Zayed International Airport accounted for over 6.8 million passengers in Q1, representing a +36% leap. The airport operator noted this result was boosted by the return of Turkmenistan Airlines and the launch of a Hainan Airlines service to Haikou, China. It brings the number of scheduled carriers at the airport to 29 airlines.

London maintained its status as the top destination city with nearly 290,000 passengers travelling to and from the English capital. The top five destinations were rounded out by Mumbai, Kochi, Delhi and Doha.
