Gebr Heinemann opens new fashion-driven “Uptown” store at Frankfurt Airport – 11/12/06

Uptown Duty Free is a response to the fast-growing sales activity at Frankfurt Airport T1A

GERMANY. Gebr Heinemann’s new branded fashion Uptown Duty Free shop opened on 27 November at Frankfurt Airport Terminal One, Pier A, Level 3. The shop targets international passengers travelling to non-Schengen countries.

Fraport said that landlord and retailer were “responding quickly to the growing sales volume in that part of the airport, which is picking up as a result of flights being moved there”.

The four most popular brands – Bvlgari, Emporio Armani, Montblanc and Hugo Boss – each have their own dedicated corners and displays.

Other accessory brands are exhibited in individual showcases (Chopard, Juchem, Versace, Maurice Lacroix, Mühle Glashütte, Georg Jensen, Breuning, Swarovski, Burberry, Dreyfuss, LBV and Vertu).

Parallel to this the existing duty-free shop on Level 3 of Pier A has stopped carrying accessories and is now using the freed-up space for perfumes and cosmetics instead.

Fraport said: “These items can now be highlighted in a way that does justice to their share of overall sales. These measures are expected to significantly boost revenues.”

The new shop will be open seven days a week, from before the time of the first flight until the last flight has departed.
