Elizabeth Arden presses pause with Intervene – 13/12/06

US. Elizabeth Arden is poised to bolster its anti-ageing portfolio with a new line called Intervene.

The Intervene Pause & Effect collection was created to put accelerated skin ageing on hold, according to the company. “What is so unique about Intervene is that it is a moisturiser with treatment benefits,” explained Executive Vice President Global Marketing and General Manager Elizabeth Park.

The line is claimed to help slow the adverse effects of sun, stress and environmental factors, thereby delaying the appearance of lines and wrinkles, while firming skin. It is also said to deliver deep hydration, to help repair, replenish and revitalise.

The franchise’s key innovation is Biodormin technology, which centres around a natural botanical extracted from the Narcissus bulb during its period of dormancy.

Studies show that this extract has the ability to help slow changes in skin’s appearance and rebalance the effects of accelerated skin ageing, Arden maintains.

In addition, soy peptides and red clover are claimed to help minimise imbalances caused by fluctuating hormonal and protein levels, and support the skin’s own natural collagen and elastin.

Intervene will be available in two formulations: Pause & Effect Moisture Cream SPF15 and Pause & Effect Moisture Lotion SPF15. Each is priced domestically at US$55 for 1.7oz.

There will also be an Intervene 3-in-1 Cleanser Exfoliator Primer, priced at US$20 for 5fl oz.

In other skincare news, Arden has updated its cult Eight Hour Cream collection with two new items, both of which began rolling out in November.

The first is an Eight Hour Cream Vintage Edition. This is a 1oz version of the original product, in new pink and white packaging. It is priced domestically at US$15.

The second is an Eight Hour Cream Intensive Moisturizing Body Treatment. It is described as the perfect companion to the original classic, and is said to deeply and intensely moisturise the skin, reversing dryness and flaking. It retails domestically at US$20 for 6.8oz.

Meanwhile, within colour, Arden has unveiled a Jewels & Velvet Collection (above), complemented by Red Door Velvet, a new interpretation of the company’s classic Red Door fragrance. The products began rolling out worldwide last month.

The make-up is described as a rich palette of intense darks, fragile pales and shimmering jewel tones for eyes, lips and cheeks.

Key items in the collection are the Jewels & Velvet Compact for Eyes (US$29.50) and the Jewels & Velvet Compact for Lips (US$25). The former is a black, quilted case filled with five Color Intrigue eye shadows.

The latter contains four shades of Ceramide Plump Perfect Lipstick, presented in a red, quilted case.

Other items include Shimmer Powder (US$29.50), a Travel Brush Set (US$39.50), Lash Optimizer-Primer with Conditioners (US$14) and Double Density Mascara (US$17).

The Red Door Velvet fragrance is available as a 50ml and 100ml edp spray, priced at US$42.50 and US$52.50, respectively.

Lastly, Arden will introduce the Pretty Irresistible Color Collection in January. The line features a selection of spring-like pastel shades for lips, cheeks and eyes.

Key items include the Color Intrigue Eyeshadow/Cheekcolors Kit (US$29.50) – lace-decorated compacts filled with Warm or Cool shades for eyes and cheeks – and the High Shine Lip Gloss Duo (US$18).
