Shree Raj Travels & Tours wins airport shuttles concession at Rajiv Gandhi Airport – 14/12/07

Raj Travels and GHIAL seal the deal in a signing ceremony that will provide 125 shuttle buses to the new airport


INDIA. Shree Raj Travels & Tours has been awarded the airport shuttles concession at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, just outside Hyderabad, effective once the airport is commissioned on 16 March 2008.

As part of the seven-year contract the concessionaire will provide 125 air-conditioned airport shuttle buses to the new airport. The buses will ferry passengers at 15-minute intervals during peak hours and at 30-minute intervals at non-peak times. The price per trip is expected to be below Rs100 (US$2.50).

More than 75 airport shuttle buses will ferry passengers to and from 15 designated locations in the city, including Sainikpuri, Gachibowli, Charminar, Mehdipatnam, Necklace Road, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, Dilsukhnagar, Uppal, Tarnaka, Secunderabad Railway Station, Begumpet Airport, Paryatak Bhavan, Errgadda, Jubilee Hills and HiTec City.

50 buses will be dedicated to ferrying airport staff.

The buses are fitted with vehicle tracking systems, Flight Information Display Systems, and onboard entertainment systems. There will also be Wi-Fi and food & beverage facilities onboard.

“The airport shuttle bus service with facilities like Wi-Fi, vehicle tracking system, ample luggage storage space and food & beverage services will ensure the passengers’ drive to the new airport is stress-free and an enjoyable experience,” he added.
