Wizard concept: The WIZZ Magic Set |
DUBAI. Toy and gadget brand WIZZ, owned by Dubai-based Retail Concepts, is targeting airports and airlines globally with its novel range, following strong travel retail distribution gains throughout the Middle East.
“Since the company was formed in 2002 WIZZ has developed a solid base of retail outlets throughout the Middle East, both in domestic markets and airports,” said Managing Director Nigel Caddick. “We have shop-in-shops and various sized gondolas at airports including Dubai, Bahrain, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi and the throughput is quite phenomenal.”
The concept includes animated toys, fun gadgets and dressing-up items aimed at children of all ages and fun-loving adults. Most are exclusive to the company and range in retail price from US$15 to US$100.
Caddick said he was confident that the concept could be applied to airports outside the region, while specific product lines were ideal for inflight.
New to the selection is a range of magic sets, all exclusive to WIZZ, suitable for children and young adults aged 10 to 20. Various combinations of tricks are available including cups and balls, magic paddle, floating wand, card tricks, magic rings and disappearing coins. Each set comes with an explanatory CD and easy-to-follow instructions. Retail price is US$20-100. In addition the company is offering a compact set for inflight sales which will retail at US$30.
“Kids love magic and these sets offer an excellent starting point into the world of tricks and illusions,” said Caddick. “Compact packaging makes the sets ideal for travel retail; the price points are perfect for impulse purchase, yet the quality is excellent. There’s really nothing else like this on the market.”
To support the range WIZZ offers a merchandising stand which takes up to 48 pieces.
