‘The LUXE’ aims to bring a new level of luxury to duty free retailing at Taiwan Taoyuan Airport |
TAIWAN. Tasa Meng has brought an innovative touch of luxury to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport with the launch of The LUXE duty free shop.
Opened on 1 October, The LUXE is located immediately after the immigration counters at Terminal 2, near Gates D1-D10.
The LUXE offers premium brands of tobacco, confectionery and liquor. Response from customers and other retailers has been highly positive, the retailer said.
Tasa Meng’s concept aims to do away with repetitive stock-holding merchandising. Stock is neatly stored in hidden wall drawers: Dunhill, for example, showcases cartons and packs rather than stacking.
Shoppers entering the store are greeted by young ‘concierges’, who take care of luggage and encourage interaction with the products.
The store features a mini bar where shoppers are treated to complimentary Johnnie Walker Blue Label Scotch whisky and Godiva chocolates, and also provides a lounge sofa for shoppers to relax while gifts are wrapped.
The customer attention extends to a personalisation service counter, a new concept where customers can have their names and greetings engraved on their purchases.

Tasa Meng operates duty free retail shops at Taoyuan International Airport (formerly known as Chiang Kai-Shek Airport).
In early 2006 Tasa Meng was awarded one of the two duty free tenders at the Taipei gateway, alongside fellow retailer Ever Rich Duty Free. Its contract runs from 1 September 2006 until 31 August 2018.
