Polaroid Eyewear marks Cannes debut with positive showing

Polaroid Travel Retail Director Chris Knight: “We heard time and again that our travel retail activities have caught the attention of the trade”

UK. Polaroid Eyewear has reported a positive reception to its first appearance at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes last month.

“We could not have hoped for a better first showing at the TFWA World Exhibition. With a full appointment book, we expected to be busy, but in terms of response and probable new business, the week surpassed all our expectations,” said Polaroid Eyewear Global Travel Retail Manager Rebecca Harwood Lincoln.

“We’ve already had follow-up meetings and are confident of significantly increasing our travel retail business, both in terms of new listings and increasing our distribution with existing customers,” she continued. “Particularly exciting has been the interest from the Asia Pacific region, both from retailers and airlines.”

Harwood Lincoln said there was strong interest in all its collections in Cannes, particularly the brand new 3D range and the Polaroid Suncovers, which simply pop over prescription glasses.

Polaroid Eyewear Travel Retail Director Chris Knight added: “It was particularly pleasing that so many buyers from significant operators took the time from their packed schedules to spend an hour or more with us at the show.

“We heard time and again that our travel retail activities have caught the attention of the trade and prompted them to consider the potential for an internationally-recognised brand, featuring polarized lenses, in the mid-price segment.”

Harwood Lincoln concluded: “It’s been a fabulous year for us in travel retail. We started the year optimistically but never expected to achieve quite so much quite so quickly. We’re now confident of ending 2010 with significantly wider distribution for our brand and look forward to further building our travel retail presence in 2011, particularly expanding into the Middle East and Asia Pacific. This all goes to prove our theory that the Polaroid brand is perfectly placed for travel retail.”
