Buckley London set to flourish with the 2011 Poppy Appeal

This brooch aims to raise funds for the Royal British Legion

UK-based jewellery brand Buckley London has launched its 2011 jewelled poppy range in support of the Royal British Legion, the British Armed Forces charity.

The collection, which comprises two poppy brooches and six charms, hopes to raise £1.6 million (US$2.5 million) for the charity that supports serving and ex-Service personnel in the armed forces.

2011 is a historic year for the Royal British Legion as it commemorates its 90th anniversary, a milestone made all the more poignant as this year Remembrance Day takes place at 11am on 11 November 2011, or 11/11/11/11.

This is the second year that Buckley has supported the Royal British Legion with its jewelled poppies. Last year the company raised £300,000 (US$480,000) and this year the company hopes to exceed that amount with promotional activities, including features in the national press, a two-hour show on QVC hosted by company founder and CEO Adrian Buckley and online sales through the official Royal British Legion website www.poppyshop.org.uk

Buckley Sales and Marketing Director Neil Thompson said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support the Royal British Legion again this year. The travel retail industry has always been a supporter of good causes and we have observed the excellent work being undertaken by our colleagues within the industry supporting Hand in Hand for Haiti and The Smile Train, and we wanted to do our bit by helping a charity close to our hearts.

“We have already sold over 20,000 jewelled poppies so we are very hopeful that we can reach our target,” he added.
