JAPAN. Kansai International Airport Corporation (KIAC) has opened a Rolex boutique airside in its international Departures area.
The boutique is located immediately beyond customs and immigration control in the terminal’s north side wing, within the KIX Avenue shopping precinct.
Officially opened on 8 April, the boutique was designed following a new interior concept from Rolex, and is the upscale watch brand’s second boutique in a Japanese airport (the first being at Haneda Airport).

The addition of Rolex is a key attraction for the airport’s fast-rising Chinese passenger traffic |
The Kansai store is positioned to capture the majority of Japanese passengers, with the north end of the terminal serving All Nippon Airways (ANA), Korean Air, Asiana and Cathay Pacific.
Rolex also has a keen following among Chinese passengers.
“At the end of January 2011, the Omega boutique was opened in front of south passport control. Now we have Rolex in front of north passport control,” Hiroki Kitabayashi, KIAC’s Deputy General Manager, Duty-Free and Other Air-side Business, told The Moodie Report
“Our airport’s strong point is a full Chinese network, and watches are very popular for Chinese customers.
“Both Rolex and Omega boutiques meet Chinese traveller needs and make our duty free area more strong and attractive.”
