Meridian Duty Free unleashes the power of Ducati in Bergamo

ITALY. Meridian Duty Free has been awarded a seven-year contract to run a Ducati store at Bergamo Orio al Serio International Airport.

The 50sq m shop, due to open by 28 March, will be the company’s fourth Ducati airport outlet. For the first two years it will be operated landside before moving airside for the balance of the contract after an airport renovation.

“We are excited because it will be the first Ducati store with the new retail concept specially designed by the Canadian designer GH+A for our travel retail format,” said Meridian Duty Free CEO Marco Passoni.

Passoni said that the new concept was inspired by the Panigale fairing [the shell placed over one of Ducati’s most famous racing bikes]. “I strongly believe this new concept will interpret the real spirit of Ducati, even in the travel retail environment,” he said.

“We hope to spread that spirit to our customers as well as the Italian style and the power that are strongly associated with the Ducati brand. We have worked hard to ensure an exciting retail experience.”

The airport, 40km northeast of Milan, handled 8.9 million passengers in 2012.
