SK-II makes European airport debut with World Duty Free Group

UK. Upscale skin care brand SK-II made its European travel retail debut on 20 July, in partnership with World Duty Free Group (WDFG) at London Heathrow Terminal 3. The retailer described T3 as the “perfect location” for the brand’s introduction, given its popularity in Asia, and the significant number of Asian customers who use the facility on a daily basis. On the UK domestic market, SK-II is available exclusively at Harrods.

WDFG worked closely with brand owner P&G Prestige to bring SK-II to Heathrow. It will be giving the launch its full support and the complete skin care range will be stocked.

SK-II, a US$1.5 billion brand, is a flagship skincare franchise for P&G Prestige. Its signature Facial Treatment Essence was created in 1980. One bottle is sold every 28 seconds, and in total over 30 million bottles have been sold to date.

A key ingredient is Piteraâ„¢, a blend of minerals, amino acids, vitamins and organic acids, said to be close in composition to the skin’s “natural moisturising factor”. Since it was discovered by researchers in the 1970s, Piteraâ„¢ has earned a reputation as a powerful anti-ageing ingredient, improving texture, firmness, wrinkle resilience, skin tone and radiance.

SK-II is favoured by celebrity A-listers and has many high-profile ambassadors across the globe, including Kaori Momoi, Cate Blanchett and Kate Bosworth (who is the face behind the launch in London Heathrow).
