Sydney Airport to add Spanish tapas bar MoVida to F&B line-up

AUSTRALIA. Sydney Airport is to introduce MoVida to its F&B line-up at the end of the month, opening the Spanish tapas bar in Terminal 2 (Domestic Terminal).

Covering 137sq m, the restaurant, which is being brought to the hub by food & beverage and retail outlet operator Airport Retail Enterprises, will have a seating capacity of 80.

It will serve a selection of Spanish tapas and raciones designed to share, as well as breakfast, pastries, sandwiches and bocadillos (Spanish sandwiches). Dishes on the menu will include Bomba, a Catalan potato and chorizo dish, Carrillera de Buey, slow braised beef cheek in Pedro Ximenez on cauliflower puree, and Jamon and Manchego Bocadillo.

Key target groups in the busy terminal will include interstate and regional travellers, as well as local residents visiting the airport to drop off their families, friends and colleagues.

Sydney Airport General Manager Retail Andrew Gardiner said: “As part of the expansion and revitalisation of T2, we have actively sought premium brands such as MoVida to enrich our existing mix.

“Customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we are pleased to be able to offer them a unique dining experience, which will enhance convenience for travellers and enrich the joy of travel.”

Open daily from 6am to 9pm, the restaurant will be fitted out with solid Blackwood bar tops, chunky steel footrests, terracotta tiles and rustic steelwork. It will also feature eye-catching LED scrolling signage over the bar, which will include MoVida-specific content.

The new Sydney location is the sixth for MoVida, while Airport Retail Enterprises already operates a number of F&B outlets at the airport, including Bistro 2020, Brasserie Bread, Toby’s Estate and Quickshots.

MoVida Owner and Head Chef Frank Camorra said: “The primary ingredient of the MoVida experience is fine dining in an enjoyable and relaxed setting, and T2 is a perfect location for us.

“We will also bring another element to the theatre of eating out for customers, with guests to be greeted with a hearty “˜Hola!’ and a warm, intimate space, just like a traditional Spanish tapas bar.”
