NETHERLANDS. Avolta, in partnership with Schiphol Group, has opened the first Eataly store in a Northern European airport at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The opening builds on the collaboration between Avolta and Eataly at Rome Fiumicino, which marked the Italian food and wine emporium’s travel retail debut in 2024. The Schiphol location aims to bring premium Italian cuisine, coffee and aperitivo culture to a wider international audience, Avolta said.
The interior design combines warm wood tones with vibrant colours creating a relaxing setting for travellers to dine, relax or shop before their flights.
Positioned as a vibrant destination for Italian gastronomy, the store offers a wide range of Italian products from olive oils to pasta sauces and traditional biscuits in addition to a menu of classic Italian dishes, such as pizzas and paninis.

In addition, the concept highlights Italy’s aperitivo culture through a dedicated bar offering a selection of wines and spritzers. Coffee plays a central role, with a specialist counter serving traditional Italian espresso.
Avolta CEO Northern, Central and Eastern Europe Walter Seib said, “We are incredibly proud to bring the authentic Eataly experience to the Netherlands for the first time, right here at Schiphol Airport.
“This opening underscores Avolta’s commitment to continuously enhance the airport experience by introducing world-class brands that offer quality to passengers. Eataly’s dedication to high-quality Italian food and its inviting atmosphere will undoubtedly be a fantastic addition for all travellers passing through Schiphol.”
Schiphol Airport Commercial Director Arthur Reijnhart added, “With Eataly, we are bringing an iconic Italian food concept to Schiphol and the Netherlands that perfectly matches our travellers’ desires: quick, fresh and high quality.
“It is a great addition to Lounge 1, where we continue to focus on improving the traveller experience, through more ambiance and a wide range of offerings.”

Eataly Group CEO Andrea Cipolloni commented, “Eataly has always brought Italy to the world through high-quality food. Our partnership with Avolta allows us to reach strategic locations around the world, expanding our global presence and international vision, and making Eataly’s cuisine and products accessible to travellers from all countries.
“Being present in major airports like Schiphol allows us to engage with a wide and discerning audience. We are confident that the offer we have carefully tailored for this new location will satisfy travellers by delivering the same level of quality and freshness found in all our stores worldwide.”
The launch marks the latest step in Avolta’s strategy to introduce leading international food & beverage brands to new channels and geographies. The Eataly partnership first extended to the motorways in 2016 before its expansion into airports last year.
