SSP America brings familiar local brands to Phoenix Sky Harbor

USA. SSP America has opened six restaurants which deliver a strong Sense of Place in Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor. It marks the first stage of SSP’s development as part of the company’s 10-year, US$800 million contract with the airport.

The F&B operator said it was aiming to meet the diverse and growing needs of Terminal 4 passengers while also highlighting locally celebrated restaurants and Valley cuisine.

Located pre-security, Lola Coffee offers artisan-roasted java coffee made from organic, Fair Trade beans.

Beyond security, a newly revamped food court near Gate A22 features Delux Burger, serving Niman Ranch premium patties on brioche-style buns.

Also in the food court is a Humble Pie quick-serve location, offering artisan pizzas and signature salads. It will open a full-service location early next year.

Another local option in the food court is Pei Wei, which gives a choice of the flavours of China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

Ordering kiosks serve as an added convenience for all three locations in the food court, allowing busy travellers to skip the line, order and pay during peak traffic periods.

Lola Coffee is another familiar name in Phoenix

A few steps from the food court, gourmet sandwiches, salads, cupcakes, sugar cookies, pastries and snacks can be found at Tammie Coe To Go.

Meanwhile, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, located just after Security Checkpoint D, offers travellers handcrafted coffees and rare teas sourced from around the world.

Nocawich Express near Gate C1, has a menu featuring salads and sandwiches whose “cheeky names match their eclectic ingredients”, according to SSP. They include The Cisco Kid, made with Southwestern turkey breast, white cheddar, cranberry jam, bacon garlic aioli and rocket resting within multigrain bread.

Finally, Arizonan craft brewer Four Peaks Brewery has a 3,600sq ft restaurant, by Gate A20, which incorporates design elements of a study of textured wood and brick, enhanced by period copper lighting.

SSP has also partnered with “˜Tappedout’, a mobile application providing customers the convenience to pay directly from their phone without the assistance of their server.

“The demand for local food, prepared by local culinary leaders is accelerating in every corner of the United States. Phoenix Sky Harbor had a very clear vision in wanting to offer its customers a true taste of the Phoenix food scene – and we were happy to help make that vision a reality,” said SSP America President and CEO Les Cappetta.

The company is already following up these openings with the second phase of developments, with more locations set to begin operations later this year.

“We have already received tremendous feedback on the new dining options in our busiest terminal,” said Phoenix Sky Harbor Acting Aviation Director Tamie Fisher. “Passengers enjoy sampling some of the finest restaurants Phoenix has to offer, right here at the airport.”
