Ray-Ban has enhanced a number of its icon models – such as the Aviator, Wayfarer and Clubmaster – with the introduction of new materials and cutting-edge technology.
One of the brand’s biggest recent technological innovations is the use of LiteForce, a premium thermoplastic used in advanced medical and aerospace industries as a substitute to metal. According to Ray-Ban, LiteForce provides “exceptional robustness, high resistance to chemical weathering, lightness and flexibility”.
Ray-Ban has now launched into travel retail its first frames featuring LiteForce, as well as applications of high-performance metals including aluminium, carbon and titanium.

“Ray-Ban tirelessly strives for the perfect balance between the classic and the cutting-edge, blending the elements which have made our sunglasses so iconic with innovations that reflect the fashions and trends of today,” said Luxottica Group Travel Retail Director Francis Gros.
“At the heart of the most recent stage in our evolution are some incredible applications of eye-catching materials – both natural and man-made – which give fresh new twists on familiar styles. The use of patterned fabrics, leather, flat-metal, acetate and other high-tech materials such as LiteForce, ensures our latest models are in tune with cutting edge fashion and lifestyle.”
Among the new takes on Ray Ban’s icon models now available to customers in travel retail are:
Ray-Ban Wayfarer: new versions of Ray-Ban’s Wayfarer include models with LiteForce frames, black and brown leather wrapped frames, and a striking new Urban Camouflage look, available in six different camouflage designs.
Ray-Ban Aviator: the Aviator, Ray-Ban’s first model with the signature teardrop shape created to stay close to the face and provide maximum protection from glare, has been reinvented in new colour combinations. Features include acetate wrapped frames with a “young and vibrant” palette and tone on tone crystal gradient lenses.
Ray-Ban Clubmaster: new versions of Ray-Ban Clubmaster have been redesigned in aluminium for lighter weight, with a restyled front with new colour options and matching crystal lenses.
