Gabriel’s Restaurant & Bakery opens first airport location at Atlanta

Gabriel’s, an Atlanta area staple, comes to the airport

USA. Concessions International opened Gabriel’s Restaurant & Bakery at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on 26 November. The unit is located in Concourse B. Gabriel’s is the sixth of ten planned new restaurants and kiosks for this zone by early 2014. Of the ten, seven are Atlanta-based concepts.

The location at Hartsfield-Jackson International with Concessions International (CI) is the brand’s first franchise and first airport location. Everything on the Southern-style menu is made from scratch with fresh ingredients.

Gabriel’s is operated by a joint venture between CI and H&H Hospitality, an Atlanta ACDBE company.

“Gabriel’s is one of the secrets of the South,” said CI Chief Executive Donata Russell Major. “We are so pleased to introduce this amazing brand to the world, and provide a sense of place to our home airport.”

Gabriel’s Restaurants and Bakery will join other popular Atlanta-area concepts, LottaFrutta, Fresh to Order (f2o), Paschal’s: A Southern Tradition, and Proof of the Pudding in the newly renovated Concourse B terminal.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our little brand,” said Johnnie Gabriel. “We can’t wait to treat the millions of travellers at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.”

Gabriel’s was founded in 1989 by Johnnie Gabriel and her husband Ed when they were baking on nights and weekends to supplement their income during the recession and to pay for their daughter’s college tuition. Their enterprise led to the opening of Gabriel’s Bakery in 1996. Since then, it has grown from a 750sq ft shop to a 6,400sq ft full service restaurant and bakery.
