Tourvest extends online duty free services for SAA Voyager members

Tourvest Inflight Retail Services CEO Clive Jones signs the extended services agreement with South African Airways Executive for Customer Loyalty Suretha Cruse

SOUTH AFRICA. Voyager, South African Airways’ (SAA) frequent flyer programme, has enhanced its ties with inflight concessionaire Tourvest Inflight Retail Services. Voyager members can now earn miles while buying duty free and also spend miles on shopping with the carrier online. The move was announced today at an event in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

“We are making every effort to present our members with more choices for their miles,” said SAA Executive for Customer Loyalty Suretha Cruse. “By launching the redemption partnership with Tourvest Inflight Retail Services, we provide members with more opportunities to use their miles. We want to be part of our members’ lifestyle.”

Tourvest Inflight Retail Services CEO Clive Jones said: “Often travellers fall below the number of Voyager Miles required to purchase a flight, or alternatively, these assigned seats are already taken up. In both instances the member would then have to pay for their airline tickets.

“This partnership allows travellers to still benefit from the loyalty programme by burning their Voyager Miles to purchase duty free products.”

He added: “It is also easier to part with your Voyager Miles to spoil oneself or purchase gifts for family and friends, rather than having to open your wallet to reach for your credit card or cash.”

Voyager Miles are earned on all inflight duty free purchases made on SAA regional and international flights exceeding two hours. To burn miles, members need to purchase online at www.flysaadutyfree.co.za at least three days before their international departure, with the product delivered to their seat before boarding.

Purchases can be made up to 14 days before a flight. The website also features discounts and promotions.

Although the new service only extends to online purchases, SAA and Tourvest said they were working towards a system whereby Voyager Miles could be used for onboard purchases too.

Tourvest Inflight Retail Services has corporate offices in South Africa and the UK, with warehouses in these states as well as Nigeria, Angola and Kenya. The company offers duty free services to SAA, British Airways, Kenya Airways, SA Express, Arik Airways, Precision Air and TAAG, among others.
