French brandy specialist St-Rémy has launched a French Chardonnay Cask Finish, the first release in a new Cask Finish Collection. The expression is available exclusively in travel retail this month with Dubai Duty Free, before rolling out in domestic markets in Canada, New Zealand, Russia, Finland and Norway.
The French Chardonnay Cask Finish, which is limited to 9,360 bottles, celebrates St Rémy Master Distiller Cécile Roudaut’s expertise in selecting and maturing the brandy in various types of casks. Each of the Cask Finish Collection expressions will be very limited batches, St-Rémy added.
To finish the new expression Roudaut chose small French oak barrels followed by casks crafted in Burgundy and used to age Chardonnay wines.
Roudaut said: “My aim for the French Chardonnay Cask was to replicate all the subtlety, freshness and liveliness of Chardonnay wines. I was convinced that the final result would be a sensational mix of sumptuous aromas and flavours, that can be best enjoyed neat or on the rocks.”
The St-Rémy French Chardonnay Cask claimed a silver medal at the IWSC 2018 awards.
