JAPAN. Lotte Duty Free’s downtown duty free store in Tokyo Ginza reopened today after a closure of two years and three months. The opening coincides with the resumption of flights between Seoul Gimpo and Tokyo Haneda airports on 29 June.
The travel retailer plans a range of customer promotions featuring discounted prices and a major whisky campaign in partnership with Suntory.
A two-month discount promotion runs until 31 August, with 70 brands and 2,000 products featured. Among the brands houses taking part are Shiseido, SK-II, Decorté, Suntory and CheongKwanJang red ginseng.

For customers spending more than 20,000 Yen (US$147) at the Ginza store from 1-31 July, a lottery will be held to win one of several fine Japanese whiskies. These include a bottle each of Hibiki 21 Year Old, Yamazaki 18 Year Old, Hakushu 18 Year Old, five bottles of Hibiki Harmony Masters and 20 bottles of Nikka Kabuto edition.
In July, five travellers who take the Gimpo-Haneda flight will receive a KRW20,000 gift card if they visit Lotte Duty Free Tokyo Ginza (first come, first served).
As reported, Lotte Duty Free is continuing its expansion in Asia Pacific, with the recent opening of a downtown store in Sydney. It also plans a new store in Da Nang, Vietnam in the second half of this year, a new branch in Hanoi next year, and further openings under its liquor & tobacco licence at Singapore Changi Airport.
