VIETNAM. Duty free shopping – potentially for domestic customers as well as foreign visitors – form an integral part of a plan just submitted by the Da Nang People’s Committee for a duty free zone.
The news, first published by Việt Nam News and since confirmed with local sources by The Moodie Davitt Report, will come as a big boost to the coastal city’s key tourism sector.
The zone will cover 151 hectares at the end of Bà Nà-Suối Mơ Road – 30km southwest of the city centre and near the Bà Nà Hills resort.
According to Việt Nam News, the project is set to be completed by 2027, subject to Ministry of Planning and Investment approval.

It will include duty free shopping, entertainment sites, a logistics hub, warehouses, healthcare services, an R&D centre, international education centre, a medical school and an exhibition centre.
As reported, Lotte Duty Free opened a downtown duty free store in Da Nang on 22 November 2022, the Korean travel retailer’s fourth business in Vietnam – the country’s largest duty free store.
The shop complements Lotte Duty Free’s presence at Da Nang International Airport, Cam Ranh International Airport in Nha Trang, and Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi.✈
