LVMH-owned beauty and fragrance house Guerlain has teamed up with Ever Rich Duty Free to launch the former’s Bee School in Taiwan.
Created initially in France in 2018, the Guerlain Bee School raises awareness of bee protection among school children.
The Guerlain x Ever Rich Bee School event was held at the end of 2022 and featured bee culture exhibitions, bee related games and a little beekeeper experience.
The aim of the event was to highlight the importance of bees and bee ecosystems in protecting biodiversity and the planet. It was attended by 20 children aged between five to eight years old, who were accompanied by their parents.
One-third of the planet’s food comes from flowering plants, among which 80% rely on bees for pollination. Taiwan in particular is famous for its rich fruit varieties and is known as a ‘fruit kingdom’ in Asia. Its annual honey output exceeds NTD 2 billion (US$6 million) in value annually, which highlights the importance of bee ecosystems in the agricultural economy.
Due to climate change, intensive farming and vanishing habitats, annual bee mortality rates now stand at 30%, making the disappearance of bees a dangerous global phenomenon.
Ever Rich is committed to implementing and promoting good Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices both inside and outside the company. Every year, the retailer runs various educational camps and over 100 beach cleaning projects.
In 2022, Ever Rich launched several energy saving and recycling projects, which successfully reduced nine million kilograms of carbon emissions in a year.
The Guerlain x Ever Rich Bee School project underlines the retailer’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Ever Rich said it is working to launch more ESG activities and sustainable brand partnerships to create a more meaningful impact on the planet now and in the future.✈
