2024 TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference to be staged 12-16 May

ASIA PACIFIC. The Tax Free World Association (TFWA) has announced the dates for the 2024 TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference. The event will take place from 12-16 May, once again at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.

“As always, the event will bring together the duty free and travel retail industry for an opportunity to learn, network, develop partnerships and do business,” a note from TFWA said.

Further details will be announced in due time.

TFWA President Erik Juul-Mortensen said: “This event provides a unique platform for industry leaders to share their insights, as well as to connect, conduct business and network with other professionals in the field.

“We look forward to welcoming all of our friends and colleagues from across the globe to Singapore once again next year.”

At a press conference on Thursday to close the 2023 event, Juul-Mortensen said that registered attendees had reached around 90% of 2019 numbers, or 2,934 (as of Wednesday). Key buyers (landlords/retailers) were up +1% on 2019 for the equivalent period, at 1,228.

Juul-Mortensen said: “This is a very satisfactory turnout. I am confident that we will race past pre-pandemic numbers in 2024.” He added that bookings for TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes were every strong, with TFWA board members saying it was likely that demand would exceed the space available.

TFWA also said that while there was a strong exhibition presence from brands in P&C, wines & spirits and confectionery, it continues to work to attract brands back to its shows in fashion & accessories in particular.

Juul-Mortensen also said that as business returned at both Singapore and Cannes, he expected TFWA to make a small profit in its current financial year. The association continues with the job of rebuilding its reserves after the pandemic, he added.
