FINLAND. Avolta and Helsinki Airport operator Finavia are set to complete a programme of eight restaurant and café openings by this spring in the departure gate area of the airport.
Already serving guests are artisan pizzeria Italian Kitchen Terracotta, Bubbles Seafood & Wine and the Espresso House café. In addition, the Burger King restaurant at gate 37 has been renovated and reopened.

Also opening in upcoming months are Naughty Burger, a burger restaurant developed by well-known Finnish chef Akseli Herlevi; the Street Food Club restaurant; another Espresso House café; and two Nordic Kitchen Deli, Bar & Bistro restaurants.

The restaurant and café openings, which occupy a combined 2,500sq m, will create about 70 jobs at the airport.

Finavia Director of Commercial Services Business for Helsinki Airport Nora Immonen said: “Helsinki Airport’s restaurant offering has almost doubled since 2019. We are developing our food & beverage selection according to trends and passengers’ wishes, and the range of hot food, for example, has become significantly more diverse. Dining is a significant part of the travel experience for an increasing number of passengers.

“Now there is a great reason to arrive at the airport well in advance to enjoy the atmosphere of the departures area and good food as part of your winter holiday trip. Our offering includes a suitable option for every situation, whether you are looking to dine in a restaurant or find a takeaway snack to take with you on your flight.”
