INTERNATIONAL. Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail (GTR) has introduced the limited-edition Royal Salute 21 Year Old Miami Polo Edition, the latest addition to its Polo Collection. It launched in limited quantities in global travel retail today (11 April).
The spirits company is celebrating the launch with a makeover of The Moodie Davitt Report desktop homepage along with an elegantly curated treatment on the mobile website.
Pernod Ricard GTR is showcasing the expression with an ambitious 360-degree marketing campaign which involves major activations at international hub airports, including London Heathrow, Singapore Changi, Dubai International, Taipei and São Paulo. An experiential pop-up will also run at Miami International Airport in partnership with Duty Free Americas from May.
The campaign immerses travellers into the world of Royal Salute Miami by leveraging the spirits company’s extensive international footprint in the channel, its ability to connect with travellers across touchpoints and maximise synergies with local markets.
Royal Salute’s link to the polo world dates back over 15 years. The latest polo-inspired expression is endorsed by celebrated polo player and Royal Salute World Polo Ambassador Malcom Borwick.
The Royal Salute 21 Year Old Miami Polo Edition is the sixth edition in the Polo Collection. It continues the Scotch whisky house’s ethos of capturing the spirit of polo locations around the world including Miami, which it describes as a “modern-day polo destination”.

Pernod Ricard GTR Vice President Marketing Liya Zhang commented: “We relish this opportunity to introduce travellers to an exquisite new facet of the multi-dimensional Royal Salute brand. The masters of exceptionally aged whisky have successfully created a must-have innovation for all whisky lovers, which we are eager to activate on a global scale.
“We will fully engage travellers across all touchpoints – pre-, during and post-trip – through our omnichannel approach and our retail execution. We can’t wait to bring a taste of Miami to all travellers.”
The whisky was created by Royal Salute Master Blender Sandy Hyslop. Inspired by Miami’s sun-kissed energy, the whisky is finished in a blend of classic first-fill bourbon and first-fill rye casks, a first in Royal Salute’s blending history.
The result of the all-American oak cask finish is smooth whisky with vanilla and coconut flavours with a subtle spice finish that pays homage to Miami’s beaches and sunsets.
It is presented in a striking pink flagon and housed in a colourful presentation box featuring illustrations that depict post-polo gatherings, set against Miami’s Art Deco architecture.
Hyslop said: “Miami is such a dynamic city, so we wanted to craft a blend that would echo this with an exciting new dimension.
“Selecting the finest first-fill bourbon and rye casks to finish the special formulation of whiskies aged for a minimum of 21 years allowed us to impart some incredible flavours and emphasise the sweet and spicy notes of the final blend, perfectly nodding to Miami’s vibrant scene.”

The Royal Salute 21 Year Old Miami Polo Edition will officially be unveiled in Palm Beach this month via a two-day event.
Notably, this includes a polo match at Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, when Malcolm Borwick will play in front of a crowd of over 300 guests for the ‘Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Support of Sentebale’. The Moodie Davitt Report President & Editorial Director Dermot Davitt is on location in Palm Beach and will be attending the event later this week. More details to follow.
The event will support the work of the Sentebale charity, which helps vulnerable people in Lesotho and Botswana. Royal Salute has been a long-term supporter of the charity, co-founded in 2006 by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. ✈
